A portion of structures and barricades outside the Pakistan High Commission in Delhi were razed down on Thursday after authorities found them to be beyond the mission’s approved boundary, news agency PTI reported. The action, tit-for-tat, came three days after Pakistan removed security barricades and parking poles that were outside the Indian High Commission in Islamabad.
The action was carried out by the agencies with JCB, removing the structures and barricades erected along the lane outside the compound three days after Pakistani authorities reportedly removed the security barricades outside the Indian High Commission in Islamabad.
The visuals of the Pakistani High Commission showed that the broken metal railings and gates twisted metal frames and chunks of concrete strewn in the area. The main gate of the entrance of the Pakistan High Commission, with its metal gates bearing the Pakistani emblem, however, remained intact.
The move also comes ahead of Pakistan raising an issue with the US over the Indian ambassador’s statement on Kashmir on Wednesday. Sergio Gor, the US ambassador in India, called Jammu and Kashmir “an important part of India.”
“Kashmir is an important part of India. I am visiting the place for the first time. It is an incredibly beautiful place,” Gor
“We had a very warm meeting, and we look forward to building on our relationship,” he said.
“We had a very good meeting. We had an opportunity to discuss the relations between our two countries, but with a specific focus on what the US can do with Jammu and Kashmir. There are obviously certain legacy issues that, over time, we will be working to resolve, but we look forward to taking this conversation further,” Omar Abdullah said.
“We are very hopeful and optimistic that the engagement between the United States of America and Jammu and Kashmir will both widen and deepen in the years ahead,” he added.
Both sides, in the past, unanimously reduced staff and tightened access controls. The relationship between the two became sensitive ahead of the terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam, claiming the lives of at least 26 people.
Following this, India had launched Operation Sindoor in response to the Pahalgam attack. Notably, the tension between both sides also escalated in May 2025 when New Delhi declared a Pakistani official who was posted at the Pakistan High Commission in Delhi persona non grata. The statement came after alleged activities that were considered inconsistent with his diplomatic position.
