During a joint press conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House on Tuesday, U.S. President Donald Trump stated that the United States could assume control of the Gaza Strip and deploy American troops in the region if deemed necessary.
During a bilateral meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, U.S. President Donald Trump proposed a potential U.S. takeover of the Gaza Strip, describing it as a “long-term ownership position” that he believes would ensure “great stability” across the Middle East.
At the press conference, while discussing a potential U.S. takeover of the Gaza Strip, President Trump stated, “We’ll own it and be responsible for dismantling all of the dangerous unexploded bombs and other weapons on the site.”
Trump further added, “Level the site, and get rid of the destroyed buildings, level it out, create an economic development that will supply unlimited numbers of jobs and housing for the people of the area, do a real job, do something different,” reported CNN
Earlier on Tuesday, during a meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in the Oval Office, President Trump remarked that due to the widespread destruction in the area, people would not return to Gaza
In response to U.S. President Trump’s suggestion of a U.S. takeover of the Gaza Strip, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called the proposal “worthwhile” to consider.
“He sees a different future for that piece of land that has been the focus of so much terrorism, so much, so many attacks against us, so many, so many trials and so many tribulations,” Netanyahu said during the press briefing.
