UP Farmers to March from Noida to Delhi Today, Barricades Installed, Routes Diverted

In the midst of winter session, the Uttar Pradesh farmers will hold a protest march today from Noida to the Parliament complex in Delhi, to press their five key demands for compensation and benefits under the latest agriculture laws. 

What are the Five Key Demands?

Farmers’ demands include an allocation of 10 percent plots and 64.7 percent increased compensation under the old acquisition law.

The demands further include 20 percent plots on the land acquired after  January 1, 2024. The farmers want children of landless farmers to be given the benefit of employment and rehabilitation. There is a demand for proper settlement and management of populated areas affected by land acquisition and agricultural policies

Who all Will take Part?

These farmers belong to the Bhartiya Kisan Parishad (BKP), Kisan Morcha, Sumyukt Kisan Morcha and other allied groups. The protest will flag off at 12 pm near the Mahamaya Flyover in Noida.  These farmers belong to 20 districts, including Gautam Buddh Nagar, Agra, Aligarh and Bulandshahr 

Barriers Placed to Stop the Entry into Delhi

In order to prevent the farmers from entering into the national capital, Delhi Police and Gautam Buddh Nagar Police have put up barriers on the Noida-Delhi border points. 

Intensive checking of vehicles and diversion of some routes have been done by Police, and usage of metro has been advised.

“Over 4,000 police personnel have been deployed. There is three-layered security. Some farmer leaders have been detained. We will not allow the farmers to go to Delhi at any cost,” additional CP (Law and Order) Noida, Shivhari Meena said.
