At least three people were injured in a clash that emerged in Udaipur on Monday after BJP MLA Vishvaraj Singh and his supporters’ entry were denied entry into City Palace. The palace is managed by Singh’s cousin and uncle Shreeji Arvind Singh Mewar. Vishvaraj Singh has been crowned as the 77th Maharana of Mewar. The situation outside the palace was reportedly chilling with heavy police deployed to prevent any unforeseen incident.
The dispute occurred due to a feud between the late Mahendra Singh Mewar and his younger brother Arvind Singh Mewar; they were the descendants of Rajput king Maharana Pratap. The clash led to stone pelting outside the City Palace.
As per the republic world, Nishvaraj Singh’s uncle Arvind Singh issues a public notice against the newly selected royal family head’s planning a visit to the Eklingnath temple of the family deity and the City Palace in Udaipur as a part of rituals of the ceremony.
Meanwhile, the temple and the palace both are under the control of Arvind Singh, who is the chairman and also the managing trustee of Shree Eklingji Trust in Udaipur.
A police force was deployed outside the gates of the City Palace to maintain law and order after the notice was issued.
What happened after the ceremony?
After the crowning ceremony, Vishvaraj Singh and his supporters reached Udaipur to pay a visit at the city Palace and the Eklingnath temple, however, they were denied entry due to the presence of heavy police. The supporters tried to cross the barricading but were stopped by the police.
After this, a clash occurred between both sides and stone pelting took place as the supporters tried to storm the palace’s gate.
