Hina Khan Murder Case: Husband Deepak Strangles Wife in Delhi’s Welcome Area, Then Surrenders at Police Station

Date:

In a barbaric domestic violence turned murder case, a 23-year-old Hina Khan was allegedly strangled by her husband Deepak inside their home in Welcome Colony in the wee hours of April 15, earlier this month. In a shocking turn of events, Deepak later walked into the Welcome Police Station and confessed to the crime, saying, “I have killed my wife.”

Hina Khan, a Muslim woman, had eloped with Deepak about three years ago and tied the knot with him against her family’s wishes. “She eloped and got married. We didn’t even know. They both went to Deepak’s village and got married there; only then did we come to know,” said Shabana, Hina’s mother, while speaking to FoEJ Media.

Within two months of the marriage, the relationship reportedly turned abusive, marking the beginning of what the family described as a long phase of domestic violence. Family members alleged that Deepak began physically abusing Hina soon after the marriage.

“After two months of marriage, she ran back to us and said, ‘Forgive me; I made a mistake. I will not go back to Deepak; he has beaten me badly. I want to stay with you all,’” Shabana said while speaking to FoEJ Media.

“At first, we refused to keep her, but later we let her stay. However, after 15 days, Deepak came and insisted on taking her back. We initially refused, but she went with him again,” she added.

Series of Domestic Violence

The domestic violence, which Hina thought would end, only worsened, and within two weeks of her return, she again faced abuse and torture. Unable to bear the situation, she came back home once more, determined not to return, but circumstances forced her otherwise.

“Within 15 days of going back, Deepak beat her badly and broke her phone, and she had no money for treatment. She called me from someone else’s phone and asked for money. I sent 10,000, but he took that too,” Shabnam told FoEJ Media.

“After that, I paid a driver and brought Hina back home,” she added.

After a month of continued violence, Deepak came again and asked Hina to return, claiming he had “changed.”

“I told Deepak to leave Hina and marry someone else. We said we wouldn’t send her back, but he didn’t agree, and Hina went with him again,” Shabnam added.

Soon, the couple tied the knot again, this time in adherence to Islamic rulings. However, the violence did not stop. “Even after this, there were frequent fights and beatings between them,” Shabnam told FoEJ Media.

The Night of the Murder

On April 14, Hina came to her mother’s house. She had no idea that it would be her last visit.

“She was at home; everything seemed fine. She spoke to Deepak on the phone; there was no argument, they spoke normally, and then she left with him.”

“While leaving, she told me to lock the door. I did, and then I went to sleep.”

On the night of April 15, 2026, the couple reportedly had another argument at their residence in Welcome Colony. Later that night, Deepak allegedly strangled Hina in a fit of rage.

“I didn’t know anything. I was sleeping. Early in the morning, a neighbor called out to me and said, ‘Deepak has killed your daughter Hina.’”

Meanwhile, Deepak arrived at Welcome Police Station around 1:30–2:30 a.m. and told officers that he had killed his wife. Police then accompanied him to the Janta Mazdoor Colony house, where they found Hina’s body lying on the floor. Her body was taken to Jag Pravesh Chandra (JPC) Hospital for a post-mortem, after which doctors declared her “brought dead.”
