Muslim Man Assaulted by Bajrang Dal Members in Agra Hotel; Police Inaction Erupts  Outrage

Date:

Members of the Bajrang Dal stormed a hotel in Agra’s Shamsabad area, targeting a Muslim man after discovering his name alongside that of a Hindu woman in the hotel’s guest register. The group forcibly entered the hotel room, dragged the couple out, and publicly assaulted the man, identified as Salman, while police officers stood by without intervening.

The incident took place at DP Hotel and was captured on video, which has since gone viral. Eyewitnesses and footage show the woman pleading for the attackers to stop as Salman was beaten in full view of law enforcement. Despite the presence of police, no action was taken to prevent the violence.

The hotel manager has filed a First Information Report (FIR) against unidentified individuals, listing charges including rioting and assault. However, no arrests have been made as of the latest updates. Police claimed they have yet to identify the attackers, even though the video clearly shows their faces and they are reportedly known in the local community.

This incident is part of a growing pattern of vigilante-style “moral policing” by Bajrang Dal and affiliated groups, who frequently target interfaith couples across the country. The brazenness of the attack and the apparent inaction by police have drawn strong criticism and renewed concerns over the increasing impunity with which such groups operate.
