Proclamation Issued Against Three Kashmiris Abroad in ‘Anti-National Propaganda’ Case

Date:

A proclamation order has been issued against three Kashmiris by a Special NIA court in Srinagar, in an FIR that was lodged by the Counter Intelligence Kashmir (CIK). These Kashmiris, including a woman, are presently based in the US and Germany, and the proclamation notice has been issued in a case associated allegedly with anti-national propaganda and secessionist misinformation and spreading disaffection against India through the use of social media platforms.

A spokesperson for the Jammu and Kashmir Police’s Counter Intelligence Kashmir (CIK) said in a statement that the case against the trio was registered after credible intelligence inputs pointed to a well-orchestrated conspiracy involving anti-social and anti-national elements acting at the behest of secessionist forces operating within and outside the Valley.

“The investigations have uncovered that the accused were masquerading as news portals, journalists, and freelancers while allegedly misusing social media platforms, including Facebook, X, and WhatsApp, to create and circulate fake, motivated, exaggerated, and out-of-context content,” the statement said.

“The accused were found to be actively propagating content prejudicial to the sovereignty and integrity of India, spreading false and fabricated narratives with the clear intent of instigating disaffection against the Union of India,” it added.

The individuals against whom the notice has been issued are identified as Mubeen Ahmad Shan, Azizul Hassan Ashai, and Rifat Wani.

The court issued a proclamation notice against the trio under Section 82 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC), 1973, in connection with FIR No. 07/2020 registered at the Counter Intelligence Kashmir (CIK) police station.

As per the police, the trio was seen actively propagating content on social media, which affected the sovereignty and integrity of India. They were allegedly spreading false and fabricated narratives with the intention of disaffecting the union of India. The Special NIA Court has now issued a proclamation under Section 82 Cr.PC, which directs the accused to appear before the court reportedly before January 31, 2026.Proclamation Issued Against Three Kashmiris Abroad in ‘Anti-National Propaganda’ Case
