A video has been making rounds on the internet where members of Gau Raksha Dal are seen assaulting three Muslim men over suspicions of transporting beef. The incident took place in Bihar’s Siwan district.
The video shows the Gau Raksha Dal members using wooden sticks to assault the Muslim men. The video also shows one of the men bleeding from the injuries obtained at the forehead and an elderly man being kicked to the ground while the blows kept on coming from all the sides.
The attack was also followed by the abusive slurs alongside the questioning of the source of the beef. It is imperative to note that the attack occurred in the presence of police officers who attempted to intervene. However , amidst the officials present at the scene, the muslim men were being assaulted.
This comes ahead of another video of assault in Bhopal which made rounds over the internet. In this assault a Muslim man named Arif Khan was allegedly dragged out by a group of men who stripped him half naked and smeared cow dung on his face on the acquisition of love jihad. Meanwhile, the woman involved told the police that she had been in a live-in relationship with Khan for five years and had accompanied him voluntarily. The incident saw massive outrage and protest.
Police Commissioner Sanjay Kumar said a criminal case has been registered, with teams actively working to identify and arrest those involved. He added that video footage is under review, and the conduct of police personnel present at the scene will also be investigated. If negligence is established, departmental action will follow.
