UP: BJP Worker Accused of Assaulting Dalit Engineer Given Grand Welcome After Securing Bail

Date:

A local Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) worker received a celebratory reception after being released on bail from Mau district jail in connection with a case alleging the assault of a Dalit official from the power department. Visuals of the event have since circulated widely on social media.

The video shows Munna Bahadur Singh being welcomed by a group of supporters as his convoy travelled back to his home district following his release on Friday. Singh was granted bail by the Allahabad High Court.

Support for Singh had been publicly expressed even before his release. Former BJP MLA Ram Iqbal Singh took to Facebook to claim that Munna Bahadur Singh had visited the power department to raise concerns over electricity supply affecting several villages and had been falsely implicated in the case. He also welcomed the High Court’s decision to grant bail.

Dharmendra Singh, the younger brother of Uttar Pradesh Minister of State for Transport (Independent Charge) Dayashankar Singh, also shared a social media post stating that he was present at the time of Singh’s release from Mau jail. He said BJP workers escorted Singh from Mau to Ballia and extended their support and good wishes.

Speaking to reporters later, Munna Bahadur Singh said the reception reflected the trust and affection he enjoyed among party workers.
