Rahul Gandhi emphasised that the yatra is ideological, focusing on social, economic, and political justice, and clarified that the goal is to address injustices in the country. Rahul highlighted the grave injustices in Manipur and Nagaland, criticising the lack of attention from the BJP leadership.

Mentioning the neglect by the government in the Manipur incident for months, Rahul Ghandi expressed his grief towards the affected people. The Manipur incident took place on May 3, 2023, between the Meitei people, a majority that lives in the Imphal Valley, and the Kuki-Zo tribal community from the surrounding hills.

According to government figures, as of September 15, 175 people have been killed in the violence.

Regarding the Ram temple consecration ceremony, Rahul Gandhi stated that it is a BJP-RSS event with a political flavour, making it difficult for him to attend. He emphasised the Congress’s openness to all religions and practices.

The Congress clarified that the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra is not an electoral campaign but a response to the government’s refusal to address issues in Parliament. He mentioned the aims of Yatra, which are to uphold the principles of justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity enshrined in the Constitution. It will cover 100 Lok Sabha segments in 15 states and conclude in Mumbai on March 20 or 21, travelling through northeastern states like Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, and Assam.
