Delhi: Officer at Women & Child Development department ‘rapes dead friend’s daughter’ for months

Date:

Senior Government official who was sitting on the post of Deputy Director in the Women and Child has been accused of raping his friend’s 14-year-old daughter for over several months.

An FIR against the officer has been registered under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the POCSO Act and the subsequent arrest also been made.

As per reports, the girl is a class 12th student, who lost her father in 2020. After her father’s death, the accused brought her to his home. It is alleged that the accused raped her several times between 2020 and 2021.

When the girl became pregnant, the accused told his wife, who, allegedly asked their son to get medicines, and the pregnancy was terminated at home.

“As his wife also aided him in the act and did not report the matter to the police, we have added Section 120-B (criminal conspiracy) in the FIR against his wife,” IANS has quoted a source as saying.

Delhi Minister Atishi said it is a shocking case as the accused was working in the Department of Women & Child Development. “Delhi Police must take strict action, the accused never worked as my OSD,” she added.

The girl is currently under treatment and her statement is yet to be recorded before a magistrate.
