Following a month-long student outrage in Delhi demanding Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation, he sent his registration to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday.
Pradhan took to social media platform X before the third round of talks between the Cockroach Janata Party and the Centre. Notably, the resignation of Pradhan was the main demand of the protest. Earlier than this, in the morning of Sunday, the CJP said that there will be no discussions if the government does not sack Dharmendra Pradhan.
Talking to social media platforms, Pradhan said, “I hold deep respect for the aspirations, sentiments, and rightful expectations of the youth of this country. Realizing the dreams of India’s young generation has been the moral resolve of our political and social life. I express my gratitude to the honorable Prime Minister for the opportunity given to me to serve the nation under his visionary leadership.”
“The developments of the past ten days have saddened me deeply. This is not a matter of personal prestige for me,” he said.
“From the very first day, I took responsibility for the matter (NEET leak) and never turned away from this situation. My resolve was that we would not allow the examination mafia to destroy the prospects of any meritorious student,” he added.
“Keeping in mind that anti-national forces should not take advantage of the situation; that the unity of the nation must remain intact; that the future of even a single student should not get entangled in legal complications; and that our children should devote their time to studies and focus on building their careers, I have sent my resignation to the Prime Minister,” Pradhan said.
In response to the news, the CJP posted, “Long Live Student Power.” Meanwhile, the CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke said, “We have done it.”
“They used to say that no one resigns in this government. But we have done it.”
It is to be noted that with the resignation, the government has fulfilled all the demands of protesters, which were as follows:
- Resignation of Dharmendra Pradhan
- No legal action against the student protesters, and
- Compensation for the families of students who died by suicide after NEET paper leak
The protest started after the alleged NEET paper leak irregularities, after which as many as 13 students.
