India Already a Hindu Rashtra, Says Congress Leader Kamal Nath

Date:

A senior leader of the Indian National Congress party, also former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath has stated that India is already a Hindu Rashtra (Hindu nation) due to its majority (82%) Hindu population .

He made this statement in response to demands by self-styled godman (Dhirendra Shashtri) for India to be officially declared a Hindu Rashtra.

Senior Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader, Shivanand Tiwari criticised Congress MP Nakul Kamal Nath for hosting Dhirendra Shastri, the head priest of Bageshwar Dham, in Chhindwara earlier on Monday. RJD leader Tiwari accused MP Nakul Kamal Nath for supporting Shashtri who openly advocates for the transformation of India into a Hindu Rashtra.

Nakul Kamal Nath is the son of Congress leader Kamal Nath, who had recently welcomed Shastri on X (formerly Twitter), expressing his enthusiasm for the Shashtri’s visit to Chhindwara. “It is our good fortune that Gurudev’s feet touched the holy land of Chhindwara,” the Congress MP had said.

The RJD and Congress are both part of the Opposition bloc INDIA, and Tiwari’s criticism raised speculation of internal conflicts within the newly formed alliance.
