Meat Supplier Nasir Allegedly Brutally Attacked by 30 Cow Vigilantes on His Route to Ramnagar

Date:

A 36-year-old meat supplier, identified as Nasir, was allegedly attacked by around 30 members of a cow vigilante group while transporting buffalo meat from Bareilly to Ramnagar.

Nasir, a resident of Maa Nai Basti in Gullarghatti and a meat supplier, was reportedly attacked by a cow vigilante group while on his routine trip to Ramnagar. The group allegedly blocked his vehicle near the Chonni Madan area with barricades before targeting it and assaulting him with sticks, stones, and iron rods.

“There’s a meat factory in Bareilly. Nasir was bringing meat from there—all GST and other taxes were paid, and all the papers were in order. On the way, the police stopped them, checked the documents, and let them go. But when they went a little further and reached the Chhoni Madan area, around 20–30 members of the Bajrang Dal set up a barricade, stopped their vehicle, and started beating them,” Nasir’s brother Wahid told FoEJ Media.

Nasir’s family claimed the assault was brought to an end after police intervened. Alerted by local residents, Nasir’s family rushed to the spot and found officers already on the scene, having dispersed the vigilante group and stopped the attack.

“Someone informed the police, so they reached the spot. We were notified by people who know Nasir, and when we arrived there, the police were already present,” Wahid told FoEJ Media.

“He was beaten so severely that, had the police not arrived, he would have died,” he added.

Nasir was hospitalized with a head injury and multiple visible wounds sustained during the attack. An FIR has been filed by Nasir’s wife Noor Jahan, which reads, “20-30 people continuously hit Nasir with the intention of killing him,” but as told to FoEJ Media by Nasir’s family, no arrests have been made so far.
