Muzaffarnagar Police Arrest Muezzin After Viral Video Over Alleged Threat to Inspector

It all started with a video that surfaced on social media, leading to the arrest of Muzaffarnagar police on Friday, December 12. The arrest has been made allegedly for threatening a police inspector. 

The video demonstrated 2-3 cops approaching Irfan exiting the mosque after the Fajr Azaan.Irfan alleged that a police officer, identified as Inspector Vinod Choudhary, questioned him about whose permission he had obtained to give the azaan. Despite Irfan producing all the requisite legal documents and the permit issued by the district administration, the officer allegedly threw the papers away and spoke to him in a demeaning manner.

The sequence of the incident is linked to the use of a loudspeaker at the mosque without permission. The police reached Irfan in this matter and allegedly assaulted him. A video purportedly related to the allegation also went viral, following which members of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind submitted a memorandum to the senior superintendent of police, demanding action. The video of the incident went viral.In yet another video that made rounds on the internet, Irfan is seen making a threatening statement saying he would cut the inspector’s neck, following which a case has been lodged against Irfan, leading to his arrest.
