Protests Erupt After Alleged Attack on Children’s Christmas Carol Group in Kerala’s Palakkad

Date:

Several protests have erupted following an alleged attack on children’s Christmas carol by an RSS-BJP worker at Kalandithara, Pudussery, in the Palakkad district of Kerala on Sunday night.

Aswin Raj, an RSS-BJP worker, allegedly assaulted the children who took part in the carol alongside damaging their musical instrument. Following a complaint, the police arrest the BJP worker Raj.

Condemning the attack, the DYFI announced that it would organize protest carols across the district. The organization said all its 2,500 units would participate in the program. It also challenged the RSS and the BJP to attempt to prevent or disrupt the carols, warning that it would ‘respond in an appropriate manner’ to any such move.

“This is the true face of the BJP’s rabid hatred towards Christianity. Their leaders will go to any lengths to insult minorities in India, even if that means attacking a blind lady.” Congress General Secretary (Organization) K. C. Venugopal said as a spate of incidents unfolded demonstrating atrocities against Christians.

“PM Modi has been putting up a great farce for years, pretending to show newfound love for Christians, but his party and the Sangh Parivar reveal their true character every single time. Venom and hatred are the BJP’s gift during Christmas. It is a warning to all minorities that the BJP’s hate-filled agenda cannot tolerate India’s pluralism,” he said.

“I know thousands of such uncles who are spreading hate in India in the name of religion, abusing Christmas and Santa Claus here. But their kids are celebrating Christmas with gusto in America, Australia, and Europe,” AAP’s Delhi president Saurabh Bhardwaj said.
