Delhi Police Constable Murdered in Govindpuri; Main Suspect Killed in Encounter in Sangam Vihar

Date:

On Saturday, November 23, 2024, Delhi Police Constable Kiranpal Singh was tragically stabbed to death while on night patrol in the Govindpuri area of southeast Delhi. Kiranpal, 28, who had been with the Delhi Police since 2018, had stopped three individuals riding a scooter for questioning. As the suspects attempted to flee, they threw stones at him. Kiranpal blocked their escape by putting his bike in front of their scooter and confiscating their keys. During the confrontation, one of the attackers, identified as Raghav, stabbed the constable, leading to his death.

The two other suspects, Deepak Max and Krish Gupta, were arrested shortly after the incident, but Raghav managed to escape and went into hiding in the Sangam Vihar area.

The following day, police teams from the NDR and Narcotics Cell tracked down Raghav based on specific intelligence. When approached by the officers, Raghav opened fire at them. In self-defense, the police returned fire, injuring him. He was rushed to ESIC Hospital, Okhla, but was declared dead upon arrival. A pistol and two cartridges were recovered from the scene.
