In an unprecedented move, the scenic valley of Kashmir has been chosen as the venue for the prestigious 71st Miss World 2023 contest. This marks a significant moment for India as it will be hosting the esteemed pageant after a hiatus of nearly three decades, with the last event being held in 1996.

The announcement was made at a press conference in Srinagar, attended by reigning Miss World, Karolina Bielawski, Miss India, Sini Shetty, Miss World Caribbean, Emmy Pena, Miss World England Jessica Gagen, Miss World America Shree Saini and Miss Asia Pricilia Carla Saputri Yules. The event is set to witness participation from 140 countries, making it a truly global extravaganza.

Karolina Bielawski, expressing her excitement about the upcoming event praised the beauty of Kashmir. She said, “Kashmir has everything and it is the best place to host an event like Miss World. I am so grateful to see the beautiful place in India, the beautiful lakes here, everyone has welcomed us nicely. The hospitality we got was wonderful. It would be exciting to see 140 countries participating in the event. Every place has its own beauty, but the pleasant hospitality here has been overwhelming.”

Echoing similar overwhelming emotions, Miss India, Sini Shetty stated that it was a proud moment for India to host the Miss World 2023 in Kashmir. She compared this momentous occasion to Diwali, as 140 countries are coming to India and participating as a family.

Miss World America, Shree Saini and Julia Morley, chairperson and CEO of the Miss World Organisation have also joined the pageant winners’ Kashmir tour.

The decision to host the pageant in Kashmir is seen as a significant step towards showcasing the region’s rich cultural heritage and scenic beauty on a global platform. The event is expected to boost tourism and present a positive image of Kashmir to the world.

The G20 meet held in May this year played a crucial role in bringing this international event to Kashmir. The successful organization of such a high-profile meeting demonstrated India’s capability to host large-scale international events.

As preparations for the grand event begin, there is an air of excitement and anticipation not just among the participants but also among the residents of Kashmir who are looking forward to welcoming guests from around the world.

This event marks a new chapter in India’s history of hosting international events and puts Kashmir on the global map as an ideal destination for such prestigious events.
