Dalit Girl Gang-Raped, House Set Ablaze, Father and Kin Tortured, Probe Underway

Date:

A barbaric spate of incidents unfolded in the Bhind district of Madhya Pradesh, where a Dalit girl was gang-raped, and her family members were attacked for refusing to settle the matter outside the court.

As updated by the Clarion Media, a furious mob tortured the girl’s family, stormed into their abode, and ultimately set their hut on fire, resulting in two of the family members with severe burns.

The sequence of the incident unfolded when the accused stormed into the house of the victim and pressured them to withdraw the gang rape case. On the refusal of the family to do the same, the furious mob beat the victim’s father, her kin, vandalized their dwelling, and set it ablaze.

“The men surrounded us, attacked my husband with sticks, and then burned our home,” a family member said, and the Clarion media quoted.

Probe Underway, Tension Overway

The sequence of the incident extends to the length that the police acted as muted spectators, leaning their stand towards the accused and ignoring the pleas for help during the attack. “We called the police when our house was set on fire, but they never arrived,” the victim said, and the Clarion media quoted.

As per the reports, senior police officials have meantime initiated a probe in the matter. However, the tension remains high in the area, and none of the accused has been apprehended.
